Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) describes common conditions of the feline bladder and urethra. Unfortunately, since FLUTD often leads to unpleasant urinary signs around the home, the problem is a common reason why cat owners relinquish their pets to animal shelters. While we can’t control all FLUTD causes, many associated conditions can be prevented, [...]
Separation anxiety is one of the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorders in pets, with dogs most likely to be affected. This debilitating disease can lead to destructive and annoying behaviors, often leaving owners stressed and overwhelmed. Since behavioral problems are a common reason for pet relinquishment—which also contributes to the pet’s onset of fear-based disorders—addressing [...]
Tiny pocket pets are easier to take care of than cats and dogs, right? This common misconception may sound true, but it’s not. Pocket pets eat less and may take up less room, but they still require as much time, energy, and attention as a dog or cat. Proper care for your pocket pet includes [...]
Some dogs seem the perfect companions from the day you bring them home, never chewing on a shoe, barking at the mailman, or stealing food off the counter. Question: Why do we want a dog? Answer: In addition to the obvious adorable factor, why does your family really want a dog? Do you want a [...]

For example, if your dog is wagging their tail, that does not automatically mean they’re happy. It can also be a sign of high arousal, intense [...]

With more than half the U.S. pet population tipping the scales to the overweight or obese side, daily exercise is a must to shed those extra pounds. Additional weight can create a [...]
