Dr. Samon received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1992, Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science in 1994, and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (Cum Laude) from Texas A&M in 1997
He is a lifetime member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners
Dr. Samon enjoys playing chess, fishing, and being on Lake Travis
Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I have been interested in the medical field from a young age. Veterinary medicine combined my love of medicine, the outdoors, and animals.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
I enjoy seeing generations of families come through our hospital. My special interests also include surgery, geriatric care and pain management.
Dr. Christine McCoy
Pronouns: She/Her
Dr. McCoy received her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009
She is a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association
On her time off she enjoys yoga and stand-up paddle boarding
Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I got into this industry to help people by helping their pets. I enjoy building relationships over time.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
My passion is to treat my patients with food as medicine, alone or in conjunction with traditional veterinary treatment. I am also interested in studying metabolic disease in dogs.
Dr. Kimberly Sabo
Pronouns: She/Her
Dr. Sabo received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University and a certification from the Production Animal Scholars Program. Dr. Sabo graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State in 2012. After graduation Dr. Sabo completed an internship in small animal emergency and critical care
She is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association
In her free time Dr. Sabo plays ultimate frisbee competitively
Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I spent my summers with my uncle on his dairy farm. I have always loved cows and becoming a vet was a way that I could help them. Shortly after graduation I transitioned to small animal veterinary medicine but I am so happy my journey has landed me here.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
I love using ultrasonography as a diagnostic tool! I am also trained in acupuncture and am very excited to offer this service to my patients.
Dr. Leahanne Alexander

Dr. Alexander obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology at Texas A&M University, then attended The Ohio State University, where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Alexander is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association
In her few free minutes, she can be found dreaming up her perfect garden, or practicing nail art techniques
Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. An early affinity for animals and a love of problem solving made my choice of career an easy one.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
My special interests include behavior, dentistry, and empowering owners to be an active part of their pet’s medical care.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I got into the industry to help make a difference in the lives of animals. I started in the kennels in high school and quickly realized my passion was for nursing hospitalized patients back to good health. Now I enjoy helping make a difference in the lives of the team members who care for the patients. This way, I can have a positive effect on so many more patients than I ever could have on my own. I still get excited to see a recovering patient walk out of the hospital after being cared for by our phenomenal team.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
My special interests are in: team member growth, innovation, leadership, and shaking up the old “norms” of veterinary management.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I entered the veterinary field because I believe that our pets deserve compassionate care in the form of continuous medical and behavioral therapy.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
My main focus is to make sure the hospital has all of the medications and supplies needed in order to give the best possible care to our patients. I also maintain the hospital grounds, making sure everything is safe and clean for everyone who visits. When needed I will step in and assist my team with any task required.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I decided to become a veterinary nurse to satisfy my love for science and animals combined. I have been at Star of Texas Veterinary Hospital since 2017.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
My favorite position in the hospital is surgery/anesthesia..I enjoy training new technicians and being a part of our hospital’s employee health and wellness committee. I’m also very proud of the elite fear free certification I earned in 2020.
Toni is certified in echocardiograms and assists our doctors in performing these.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I wanted to do something that gave me purpose and fulfillment. I had always enjoyed animals and after getting my foot in the door at a hospital I was hooked. Ever since, I have strived to be the best and most knowledgeable technician I can be.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
I am passionate about critical care and taking care of hospitalized patients. I enjoy navigating stressful situations and complex care.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
Since I was a child, I always knew I wanted to work with animals and be a voice for them in their time of need. As soon as I turned 19 I started working in animal hospitals and 22 years later I’m still doing what I love.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
I enjoy dentistry, surgery, phlebotomy, and developing relationships with my furry patients.

Why did you get into the veterinary field?
I have always been drawn to the natural sciences and found a lot of gratification working with animals. My fascination with the two led me towards studying wildlife biology in college and provided plenty of insight to confidently start working in veterinary medicine.
What are your special interests within veterinary medicine?
Combining my love of graphic design and veterinary medicine. Meeting new people and conversing with new clients. Knowing the joy and significance that a pet’s love can bring into a person’s life, I love knowing I am helping pet parent’s experience companionship and joy for as long as possible.
